Product catalog summary
Chemical Composition
Table 1 outlines the chemical composition of the Ti-811 alloy, a near α titanium alloy. The primary elements include Titanium (balance), Aluminum (7.35-8.35%), Vanadium (0.75-1.25%), and Molybdenum (0.75-1.25%). Other elements such as Iron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Yttrium, and residuals are present in smaller quantities, with specific maximum limits provided for each.
Mechanical Properties
Table 2 presents the mechanical properties of the Ti-811 alloy according to AMS 4972G-2011 standards. The alloy exhibits excellent tensile strength at room temperature (≥895 MPa) and at 425℃ (≥620 MPa). It also maintains good creep properties at 425℃ for 100 hours under 410 MPa stress. The fracture toughness (KIc) is specified for different diameters, with values of 1035 MPa for diameters less than 40mm and 895 MPa for diameters 40mm and above.
Applications and Characteristics
The Ti-811 alloy, developed in the USA in 1954, is noted for its high aluminum content and superior mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures. It is comparable to Ti-6Al-4V in tensile strength at room temperature but surpasses other α and α+β titanium alloys at 425℃. Its high Young’s modulus and vibration damping capabilities make it suitable for use in high-pressure compressor blades of aero-engines, operating effectively at temperatures up to 450℃. WST provides Ti-811 bars in diameters ranging from 16 to 60mm and lengths from 500 to 3200mm.
Ultrasonic Testing
Table 3 details the ultrasonic testing parameters for Ti-811 alloy bars. For diameters between 16 and 60mm, the maximum flat-bottom hole (FBH) size is 0.8mm, with a noise signal threshold of -12 dB.
Microstructure
Figure 1 provides a micrograph of the Ti-811 alloy at 200X magnification, illustrating its microstructural characteristics.

Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V-1

Ti-811 alloy is a kind of near α titanium alloy with high content of Al element, which was successfully researched in USA in 1954. It has excellent mechanical properties at the room temperature and high temperature, which tensile strength at the room temperature is similar with that of Ti-6Al-4V and tensile strength and creep properties at 425℃ high temperature is better than other α and α+β titanium alloy. Due to higher Young’s modulus and good vibration damping performance, Ti-811 alloy can stably work for a long time at 450℃ temperature and is one of ideal material of the first three section of the blade on high pressure compressor of aero-engine. At present, WST can supply Ti-811 bars in size of dia.16-60mm with length of 500-3200mm according to AMS 4972G-2011. Residual Each Mechanical Properties Room temperature
