TIMETAL 35A

Product catalog summary
Overview of TIMETAL 35A:
TIMETAL 35A is a commercially pure titanium, equivalent to ASTM Grade 1. It is characterized by its high purity, low strength, and excellent ductility and formability at room temperature. This makes it ideal for applications requiring maximum formability, such as explosive bonding and plate-type heat exchangers. It also offers excellent corrosion resistance in environments ranging from highly oxidizing to mildly reducing, including chlorides.
Usage and Temperature Limits:
TIMETAL 35A is suitable for continuous service up to 800°F (425°C) and intermittent service up to 1000°F (540°C). It maintains good impact properties at low temperatures and can be easily welded, machined, cold worked, hot worked, and cast.
Chemical Composition:
The chemical composition includes Oxygen (0.18%), Nitrogen (0.03%), Carbon (0.08%), Iron (0.20%), Hydrogen (0.015%), with residual elements each at 0.10% and a total of 0.40%. The remainder is Titanium.
Physical Properties:
Density is 0.163 lb/in³ (4.51 g/cm³). The Beta Transus temperature is 1640°F (890°C). Thermal conductivity is 12.70 Btu/hr-ft-°F (21.97 W/m-K), and electrical resistivity is 18 µΩ•in (0.45 µΩ•m). It is nonmagnetic with a mean coefficient of thermal expansion varying with temperature.
Mechanical Properties:
Typical mechanical properties include an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and 0.2% yield strength (YS) with elongation and reduction in area percentages provided. The material also has specific fatigue and tensile properties at elevated temperatures.
Heat Treatment:
Annealing and stress relieving processes are specified with conditions such as temperature and cooling methods.
Technical Support:
For further information, contact details for TIMET's sales offices and technical support centers in North America and Europe are provided.

TIMETAL 35A-1

TIMETAL® 3 5A COMMERCIALLY PURE TITANIUM TIMETAL 35A is equivalent to ASTM Grade 1. It has the highest purity , lowest strength, and best room-temperature ductility and formability of the four ASTM commercially pure grades. TIMETAL 35A should be used where maximum formability is required such as in explosive bonding and plate type heat exchangers. It exhibits excellent corr osion resistance in highly oxidizing to mildly reducing environments, including chlorides. TIMETAL 35A is typically used in continuous service up to 800°F (425°C) and in intermittent service up to 1000°F (540°C). It also has good impact properties at low temperatures. In addition TIMETAL 35A can be easily welded, machined, cold worked, hot worked, and cast. * Typical values at room temperature of about 68-78°F (20-25°C) TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES UTS 0.2% YS Elongation Reduction in Area Bend
