The VR1 Colibri is the smallest system in the Vertical Ray family of products. It is collapsible and man-portable; an entire system can be transported in a 40 litre rucksack. It's designed to be simple to use, flexible in operation and be rapidly assembled, deployed and recovered. The VR1 is well suited for missions in built-up areas where vertical take off and landing is essential for deploying a UAV system. The VR1 is really easy to use. Intelligent software assists the operator when the system is in flight. There are multiple operation modes ranging from remotely controlled to fully autonomous. The operator is easily able to control all the vehicle functions, as well as the on-board sensors using a simple touchscreen interface. Real-time imagery from the UAV may be displayed on multiple mobile devices (RVTs) or transmitted onwards for exploitation or analysis. The VR family of UAVs are highly stable in flight, offering an excellent platform for sensing. The system is available with a wide range of hot-swappable sensors including: ■ High-definition electro-optical sensors to view large areas of terrain, providing excellent situational awareness. ■ Infra-red sensors providing day and night capability and enhancing search and rescue missions. ■ High-precision zoom sensors giving a high magnification and delivering target identification at high standoff range Sensor swapping is easily performed by the operator in a few seconds, enabling a swift response to changes in the mission profile.
