Certified Material Ultem 9085

Product catalog summary

Introduction
ULTEM 9085 is a high-performance, flame-retardant thermoplastic designed for use with Fortus 3D Production Systems. It is particularly suitable for the transportation industry due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and FST (flame, smoke, and toxicity) rating. This material allows for the production of fully functional parts without the cost or lead time associated with traditional tooling.

Specifications and Certifications
Certified ULTEM 9085 meets stringent aerospace industry criteria, ensuring material traceability. Certificates of Analysis and Conformance are provided to document test results and manufacturing specifications.

Mechanical Properties
The document provides detailed mechanical properties, including tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance, measured in both XZ and ZX orientations. For example, tensile strength at yield is 6,800 psi in XZ orientation and 4,800 psi in ZX orientation.

Thermal Properties
Key thermal properties include a heat deflection temperature of 307°F (153°C) and a glass transition temperature of 367°F (186°C). The material does not have a melting point due to its amorphous nature.

Electrical Properties
ULTEM 9085 exhibits a volume resistivity range of 4.9 x 1015 to 8.2 x 1015 ohm-cm and a dielectric strength of 110 to 290 V/mil.

Other Properties
The material has a specific gravity of 1.34 and a flame classification of UL94 V-0. It also passes various burn and smoke density tests, making it suitable for aerospace applications.

Advanced FDM Technology
Fortus systems utilize FDM technology, which is known for using production-grade thermoplastics to create durable parts. These systems do not require special facilities or skills, making them accessible and easy to operate.

Conclusion
ULTEM 9085 is a versatile material for 3D printing, offering high performance in demanding environments. It is ideal for industries requiring robust, traceable, and certified materials.

Certified Material Ultem 9085-1

ULTEM 9085 PRODUCTION-GRADE THERMOPLASTIC FOR FORTUS 3D PRODUCTION SYSTEMS ULTEM™ 9085 resin is a flame-retardant high-performance thermoplastic for digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping. It is ideal for the transportation industry due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and its FST (flame, smoke and toxicity) rating. Combined with a Fortus® 3D Production System, ULTEM 9085 resin allows design and manufacturing engineers to produce fully functional parts that are ideal for advanced functional prototypes or end use without the cost or lead time of traditional tooling. Certified ULTEM 9085 meets more stringent test criteria and retains material traceability required by the aerospace industry. Certificates of Analysis for both raw material and filament are supplied, documenting test results and identification to match filament manufacturing lot number to raw material lot number. This allows traceability from printed part back to raw material. A Certificate of Conformance certifies that the material is manufactured per specification.
