Product catalog summary
Product Description and Specifications
The document describes a triple junction solar cell with a typical efficiency of 38.5% and a recommended operating temperature of less than 110°C. The epitaxial structure consists of GaInP (1.88 eV), GaInAs (1.41 eV), and Ge (0.67 eV) on a Germanium substrate. The metallization includes silver on the front busbar and grid fingers, and silver with 500Ǻ gold on the back surface.
Qualification Tests
  • Performance Tests: Conducted under various conditions including LIV at 50 W/cm² under ASTM 173G, with requirements of average efficiency (ηmp) greater than 38.5% and minimum efficiency greater than 36.2%. Temperature and intensity tests were performed at 50, 75, and 100 W/cm² at temperatures of 10°C, 25°C, 65°C, and 110°C.
  • Weld Degradation: LIV tests before and after welding with a requirement of NPmp greater than 0.98.
  • Spectral Response: Characterization using an angle of incidence with X25 or SR illumination source.
  • Solar Absorptance: Reflectance measurement for characterization.
Accelerated Life Tests
  • Damp Heat: Conducted at 85°C and 85% RH for 2000 hours with a requirement of NPmp greater than 0.9.
  • Thermal Cycle: Following IEEE 1513 standards with 500 cycles from –40°C to +110°C, requiring NPmp greater than 0.9.
  • High Temp Soak in Nitrogen: Unbiased soak at 200°C and 250°C in Nitrogen, with NPmp greater than 0.95 after 25 years.
Additional Information
The document includes a typical population efficiency distribution graph and a spectral response chart. Full qualification reports are available upon request. The document is © 2010 Spectrolab, Inc., and specifications are subject to change without notice.
