Product Description
This is a high-strength zinc alloy (5.1 to 6.1% zinc) that is solution treated, artificially aged, and controlled stretched to achieve the T6511 condition. It is available in extruded bar and profile form, compliant with EN 573/755 and BS Pr EN 2394, 2631 standards.
Stock Range
Round bars range from 9/16” to 9” in diameter (14.28 to 228.6mm). Flat and square bars range from 1 1/2” square to 8” x 6” (38.1mm square to 203.2 x 152.4mm).
Machinability
Very good.
Corrosion Resistance
Fair resistance to atmospheric attack.
Surface Treatment
Anodising: Protective - Fair, Bright - Variable, Hard - Fair, Colour - Fair. Plating and vitreous enamelling are not applicable.
Weldability
Brazing & soldering, oxygen, and inert gas welding are not recommended. Resistance, spot, and beam welding are very good.

Chemical Composition (Weight %)
Aluminium (Al) is the remainder. Other elements include Si (0.40 max), Fe (0.50 max), Cu (2.00 max), Mn (0.30 max), Mg (2.90 max), Cr (0.28 max), Zn (6.10 max), Ti (0.20 max), and others (0.15 total max).
Mechanical Properties (Minima)
Varies by size range, with tensile strength ranging from 78 to 81 ksi and 0.2% proof stress from 68 to 73 ksi. Elongation on 5.65 √ S0 is 7% for most sizes, with some exceptions.
