L93

Product catalog summary
Typical Applications: The L93 Copper alloy is primarily used in aerospace and defence components, as well as high technology applications.
Product Description: This is a strong Copper alloy with a composition of 3.9 to 5.0% Copper. It is a rolled plate specification that has been solution treated, artificially aged, and stress relieved to achieve the T651 condition. It is equivalent to the 2014AT651 general engineering standard.
Surface Treatment: The alloy can be anodised with varying results: protective anodising is fair, bright anodising is unsuitable, hard anodising is good, and colour anodising is fair, limited to dark colours. Plating is very good, but vitreous enamelling is unsuitable.
Chemical Composition: The alloy consists of Aluminium (remainder), Silicon (0.50-0.90%), Iron (max 0.50%), Copper (3.9-5.0%), Manganese (0.40-1.2%), Magnesium (0.20-0.80%), Chromium (max 0.10%), Nickel (max 0.20%), Zinc (max 0.20%), Titanium + Zirconium (max 0.20%), Lead (max 0.05%), and Tin (max 0.05%).
Mechanical Properties: The mechanical properties vary with thickness, with proof stress ranging from 340 to 410 MPa, tensile strength from 400 to 460 MPa, and elongation percentages from 2.5% to 7% depending on the thickness and direction of the test sample.
Technical Assistance: The company offers technical support through a team of qualified metallurgists and engineers.
Production Tolerances: Manufacturing limits are specified in Section 14 of BS L100. Further assistance is available through the Sales Department or Laboratory.
Weldability: The alloy is not recommended for brazing, soldering, or oxygen welding. However, it is excellent for resistance, spot, and beam welding.
Machinability: The alloy has good machinability.
Corrosion Resistance: The alloy has poor resistance to atmospheric attack.
Cut Size to Sawn Blanks: The alloy can be cut to length in-house with a tolerance of Nil + 1.6mm.
