SMACWRAP® Composite Damping
SMACWRAP® is a patented viscoelastic rubber product designed to be integrated into composite structures to enhance damping without compromising mechanical properties. It is available in a thin roll form, making it easy to incorporate into various designs.
- Damping Factor: SMACWRAP® significantly reduces vibration and noise, particularly in carbon fiber structures known for their stiffness.
- Flexibility: It provides flexibility in torsion or bending, which is beneficial for typically rigid composite materials.
- Crash Safety: In the event of a crash or breakage, SMACWRAP® helps contain debris, enhancing safety.
SMACWRAP® can be integrated into composite structures by placing thin elastomer layers within the parts lay-up. It is usually positioned between the existing structure and a suitably chosen constrained layer.
