Melt Pool Monitoring (MPM) To be able to ensure all-round quality for an integrated production process and accompanying documentation, quality assurance tools are used in addition to constantly increasing the system robustness. Melt Pool Monitoring (MPM) represents an on-axis tool for the determination of thermal radiation by use of pyrometry. It makes an important contribution to documentation of the build process and thus to quality assurance. The system also supports the efficient further development and evaluation of process parameters. The system records the thermal radiation from the melt. The recorded data enables conclusions to be drawn regarding irregularities during fusion, which can lead to anomalies in the build parts. Measurements are taken with a measurement rate up to 10 ps (100 kHz). The measurement data is recorded and displayed in real time. Saved data can be queried and visualized layer by layer. Thus, the measurement data are immediately available for analysis. Further data processing processes are in preparation for future software versions. Each beam path is equipped with its own measuring system. This solution can be upgraded with the remodeling of the optical bench.
