Gas Flow Upgrade for The Gas Flow Upgrade from SLM Solutions enables improved gas flow inside the process chamber for SLM 280 machines currently in use. A retrofit is possible for SLM 280 machines built in 2014 or later without any further steps. The Gas Flow Upgrade contains a new background flow and an optimized cross jet inlet nozzle. A larger pump for the generation of the gas volume flow has been integrated. In addition, a new flow sensor has been supplemented with an even larger measurement range. During the build time, the optimized gas flow prevents particle adherence to the beam entry glass in the process chamber of the machine. The optimized laminar flow through the process chamber and the more consistent flow speed across the build area represent additional improvements.
