SCHMIDT® PneumaticPress

Product catalog summary
Overview: The SCHMIDT® PneumaticPress is a modular system designed for operations such as transforming, joining, and assembling, with pressing capacities from 1.6 kN to 60 kN. It can operate in single cycle or automatic mode and is EC type-approved and CE-conformed when used with SCHMIDT® PressControl 75 or 600.
System Design: The system comprises a cylinder unit, press head unit, pneumatic control package, force control, ram, frame, and fixture mounting plate. The cylinder unit is maintenance-free, and the press head unit allows for rapid height adjustments. The pneumatic control package uses filtered, non-lubricated air, with force output controlled via a pressure regulator.
Functional Description: The press operates using a 3-chamber pneumatic cylinder. During the working stroke, pistons are pressurized to move downward, and during the return stroke, only the bottom piston is pressurized, optimizing air consumption. Stroke adjustments can be made using a Stroke Limit Block and stop screw.
Features: The modular design allows for process optimization with adjustable parameters such as stroke, force, and speed. It offers easy adaptation to different tool and part heights, additional safety measures, low noise levels, and high precision due to wear-resistant components.
Press Types and Specifications: Various press types (20, 23, 24, 25, 27, 29, 32, 33, 34, 36) are available, featuring round anti-rotational rams, adjustable ram positions, and different frame heights and table sizes. Nominal force at 6 bar varies, with options for custom paint and tooling adaptations.
Advanced Features: Some models include force/stroke monitoring with integrated sensors and signal amplification for real-time evaluation, ensuring precise force measurement and immunity to EMI and environmental contamination.
Specifications: The document details press types 320, 323, 327, and 329, with working strokes and nominal forces ranging from 1.6 kN to 43 kN at 6 bar pressure. Stroke resolution is 5 µm, and force resolution varies from 0.5 N to 12.5 N per increment. Throat depth and ram dimensions are specified for each model.
Air Consumption: Air consumption per stroke is calculated at 6 bar, with specific values provided for each press type. Connections range from G 1/4" to G 1/2".
Options and Customization: Options include nickel plating, custom paint, and customer-specific tooling adaptations. Frame and table dimensions are detailed, with special fixture mounting plates available.
Additional Information: Detailed dimensional drawings can be downloaded from the SCHMIDT® website. Consultation with the sales department is recommended for specific requirements.

SCHMIDT® PneumaticPress-1

Maximum pressing force from 1.6 kN to 60 kN The SCHMIDT ® PneumaticPress range consists of a modular system suitable for transforming, joining and assembling operations optimally within the pressing capacities of 1.6 – 60 kN. With the addition of the SCHMIDT ® PressControl 75 or 600 and the optional process monitoring, these presses become EC type-approved, CE-conformed workstations. Therefore these press systems can be used in either single cycle mode or automatic mode. The application determines the selection of the press system. Consideration is given to the flexible design of the assembly location taking into account the ergonomic and safety aspects. These characteristics are achieved by means of a finely adjusted, modular type product range. The efficiency and increased process reliability of these press systems have been proven many thousands of times, in single applications, semi-automated assembly systems and have been integrated into automated production lines.

Functional description considering the example of a 3-chamber pneumatic cylinder In working stroke, three pistons 7 connected by the piston rod 6 are pressurized with compressed air via the air connection 1 and move downward. The air below the pistons exhausts from the cylinder chambers via the depressurized connection 2 and the breather vents 3 and 4 . The ram 5 extends up to the maximum working stroke. In return stroke, the upper cylinder chambers are depressurized via the connection 1 and only the bottom piston is pressurized with compressed air via the air connection 2 . Ambient air enters...
