AquaSan Ni50

Product catalog summary
Product Overview:
AquaSan Ni50 is a nickel-based covered electrode with a waterproof coating, designed for welding high strength steels with a Carbon Equivalent (CE) greater than 0.4. It is particularly effective for materials prone to hydrogen embrittlement due to nickel's ability to diffuse hydrogen away from the steel.
Standards:
The product is pending initial publication under AWS A5.35 standards.
Chemical Composition (Nominal %):
  • Carbon (C): ≤0.08
  • Silicon (Si): 0.3
  • Manganese (Mn): 2.4
  • Chromium (Cr): 12
  • Nickel (Ni): 64
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 6.5
Applications:
AquaSan Ni50 is suitable for underwater welding of steel types such as HY 80, HY 100, 204B, A36, and 300 series stainless steels, up to a depth of 50 ft (15m).
Forms of Supply:
The electrodes are packaged in a 30 lb (13.5 kg) carton, containing three 10 lb (4.5 kg) plastic containers, each with five 2 lb (0.9 kg) sealed plastic bags.
Weld Metal Characteristics:
The weld metal has a fully Austenitic matrix.
Mechanical Properties:
  • Temperature: 20°C (68°F)
  • Proof strength, RP0.2: 524 MPa (76 ksi)
  • Tensile strength, Rm: 648 MPa (101 ksi)
  • Elongation, A5: 14%
Welding Data:
  • Welding positions: All
  • Current/polarity: DC/-
  • Diameter: 2.4 mm (0.093 in.)
  • Current: 90-110 A (105 A typical)

AquaSan Ni50-1

AquaSan Ni50 is a specially formulated, nickel based covered electrode with a waterproof coating for the welding of high strength steels with a Carbon Equivalent (CE) >0.4. AquaSan Ni50 is specified for welding base materials with a CE >0.4, which are susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement. Nickel has a high affinity for hydrogen and this composition allows hydrogen to diffuse into the weld metal and away from the high strength steel. STANDARDS - AWS A5.35: (pending initial publication).
