ZITEX ® G

ZITEX ® G

Product catalog summary
Overview of Zitex® G: Zitex® G is a robust and versatile PTFE membrane that can be installed without additional polymeric backings, maintaining its essential properties for various applications. It excels in particle retention, particularly in air and gas filtration, and is effective in liquid filtration using pressures above the membrane's water initiation pressure or with wetting agents like ethanol.
Key Characteristics: Zitex® G shares unique features with Zitex® A, including high water retention pressures, making it suitable for reliable hydrophobic vents. Its tensile strength and elongation are advantageous for use as an air-PTFE dielectric in miniature coaxial cables, facilitating easier wire wrapping. Zitex® G is approximately 50% air by volume, offering excellent dielectric properties, with a dielectric constant of 1.5 and a dissipation factor of less than 0.00022 at 10GHz. It is also available in a perforated form with 46% open area.
Typical Properties of Zitex® G-100 Series:
  • Functional Pore Size: Ranges from 1-6 microns depending on the type (G-104 to G-115).
  • Air Flow: Measured in seconds using the Gurley Densitometer Test, varies from 1.7 to 6.5 seconds.
  • Bubble Point (Ethanol): Ranges from 0.6 to 1.2 psi.
  • Water Flow Rate: Varies from 20 to 75 GPM at 13.5 psi.
  • Water Initiation Pressure: Ranges from 2 to 6 psi.
  • Breaking Strength: Increases from 4.8 to 15 lbs./inch width.
  • Elongation: Consistent at 75% across types.
  • Pore Volume: Decreases from 55% to 40%.
  • Thickness: Ranges from 0.004 to 0.015 inches.
Applications and Customization: Zitex® G materials are suitable for gasketing applications requiring a compressible liner, ideal for glass-to-glass fittings or non-uniform sealing areas. Custom products and special formulations are available upon request.
Warranty and Disclaimer: Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics offers a limited warranty for 6 months from the date of sale, covering manufacturing defects. The company disclaims all other warranties, and users assume all risks related to the product's use. Users are advised to conduct their own tests to determine product suitability for specific applications.

ZITEX ® G-1

Zitex® G-100 Series Typical Properties Property Data shown are representative and not to be used as material specifications. Zitex® G materials are available in thicknesses up to 0.25". These materials are ideally suited for gasketing applications where a compressible liner is required. These gaskets are ideal for glass-to-glass fittings, or where non-uniform sealing areas are involved. Please consult Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics for these custom products or special formulations for specific applications. Zitex® G can be produced in thicknesses greater than .0l5". Strong and tough, Zitex® G can be installed in membrane holders without the need for non-PTFE polymeric backings, so there’s no compromising on properties that might be important to your application. Particle retention is also very high, especially when filtering air and other gasses. On the subject of liquid filtration, Zitex® G again stands out from the crowd. Liquids may be filtered by using pressures exceeding the membrane’s water initiation pressure, or with the aid of wetting agents such as ethanol. Two other properties that make Zitex® G ideal as an air-PTFE dielectric for miniature coaxial cables are tensile strength and elongation, which allow easier wire wrapping without fear of breakage. Zitex® G is approximately 50% air by volume, and thus provides unusually good dielectric characteristics. For instance, Type G-106 has a dielectric constant of 1.5 and a dissipation factor less than .00022 at 10GHz. Zitex G® is also available in perforated form with 46% open area.
