Your key partner in added logistic value With this first newsletter of 2006, we at SACO would like to give you an update of our air cargo handling equipment and systems which have recently been implemented as well as of the events where we shall be present. Eindhoven Handling Cargo Eindhoven, NL Following the long relation with the client, SACO was awarded this project in April 2005. To keep pace with ever increasing air cargo volumes, Eindhoven Handling Cargo (EHC) decided to move to a new 18,000 m² warehouse and install an automatic cargo handling system. This handling system will be implemented in stages as the cargo volume grows even further. The first stage completed in December 2005 includes a 20ft Transfer Vehicle which can be upgraded to an elevating type (ETV) without any equipment becoming obsolete. Further equipment includes 4 truck docks (10ft and 20ft), powered roller decks for storage of 10ft and 20ft pallets, multiple lowering build/break workstations with integral weighing systems (single 10ft and double 20ft) and two oversized weigh platforms of 5.5 x 5.5 m for weighing slave pallets. We also relocated SACO equipment from the previous warehouse, which mainly consists of a dedicated slave pallet mover and a series of slave pallets. In spite of the fact that the warehouse is located off-airport in a dedicated logistics area, the size of this handling system is indeed impressive for this type of operation. And even more so when in the future when EHC will increase the capacity with a second storage level to be placed over the current one. YUSEN Air and Sea Service Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, NL Yusen’s new 6,000 m² warehouse located in the logistic zone of Schiphol South-East saw the completion of a Saco Cargo Handling System in January 2006. For a forwarding company like Yusen, this system is quite impressive as it the largest of its type at Schiphol without airside access.
