This will further strengthen the position of Brussels within the European and worldwide DHL network. This 114 million Euro investment is expected to triple the hub's capacity from 12,000 to 39,500 shipments per hour. Thanks to the state-of-the-art ULD and material handling system technologies, DHL will be able to respond to the expected fast growth of the international express shipments. To improve and modernise its ULD handling standards, DHL Brussels together with SACO radically upgraded the existing DHL engineering specifications. Backed by DHL operations, maintenance, technical and safety experts, these specifications will now serve as base for a new global standard. The system supplied by SACO can accommodate over 120 10-ft ULDs at a time. All ULDs can be handled to the highest industry standards without touching the floor. SACO has successfully supplied and commissioned the ULD handling system for TNT in Marly-la-Ville. TNT built this logistics centre in Marly to benefit from its strategic location near Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) and the FedEx hub at the airport. The new state-of-the-art logistic centre will deliver and receive ULD's to/from trucks and will be able to treat 18,000 parcels per hour.
