Bearing Catalog - Corrosion Resistant Bearings Section K

Product catalog summary
Overview
CRES Bearings, or Corrosion Resistant Engineered Solutions, are designed to meet the needs of various industries by providing corrosion-resistant bearings that comply with HACCP procedures and stringent cleaning requirements such as CIP and SIP.
Specifications
The document provides a detailed selection guide for CRES bearings, including material specifications, size ranges, and types of seals used. The bearings are made from materials like 440C stainless steel and 52100 steel, with seals such as LUBRI-DISC and LUBRI-DISC+ for enhanced protection. Lubrication is provided by H1 Food Grade Grease.
Product Range
The document lists various types of bearings, including McGill CRES CAMROL and Sealmaster mounted roller bearings. Each type is detailed with specifications such as housing style, duty type, and material composition.
Features and Benefits
CRES CAMROL bearings feature full complement needle rollers, heavy section outer support, and 400 series corrosion-resistant steel for improved durability. The LUBRI-DISC+ seal offers enhanced protection against contaminants and water entry.
Technical Details
The document includes technical engineering details such as bearing dimensions, load ratings, and speed limits. It also provides information on custom capabilities, allowing for modifications to meet specific application needs.
Applications
CRES bearings are suitable for mechanical automation and linear motion applications, offering solutions that balance corrosion resistance with bearing capacity.
Procedures and Recommendations
1. Clamping torque values are based on lubricated threads; if threads are dry, the torque value should be doubled.
2. The maximum operating speed is influenced by load, lubrication method, and temperature, among other factors. More frequent relubrication is necessary at higher speeds.
3. For life calculations, use the track roller dynamic load rating. The maximum dynamic load should not exceed 50% of this rating.
4. The static load rating is based on stud strength, and exceeding it may impair dynamic operation.
Technical Data
The document includes tables with detailed measurements for various bearing models, including roller diameter, width, stud diameter, and length. It also provides dynamic and static load ratings, clamping torque, and limiting speeds.
Additional Notes
Metric dimensions are for reference only, and not all parts are available from stock. For availability and further technical support, contact customer service or Application Engineering.
Installation Procedure
1. Install Unit: Ensure weight is off the bearing during mounting. Slide the unit onto the shaft, using emery cloth if necessary to smooth high spots.
2. Fasten Unit: Install housing mounting bolts, align bearing units, and tighten bolts to recommended torques. Check shaft rotation.
3. Tighten Locking Mechanism: For setscrew locking inserts, torque the first setscrew to half the recommended torque, then the second to full torque, and finally the first to full torque. For Skwezloc locking inserts, ensure the collar is snug and torque the cap screw to full recommended torque.
Recommended Shaft Tolerances
- 1/2 - 1 15/16 inches: +0.0000 / -0.0005
- 2 - 3 3/16 inches: +0.0000 / -0.0010
- 3 1/4 - 4 15/16 inches: +0.0000 / -0.0015
Optional End Cap Installation
- Polymer End Caps: Position with drain hole down, press until it snaps into place, and ensure no contact with the shaft.
- Stainless Steel End Caps: Optionally apply silicone sealant, position with drain hole down, tighten cap screws, and ensure no contact with the shaft.
Replacing Sealmaster Inserts
1. Loosen and remove housing bolts.
2. Remove bearing from shaft.
3. Remove bearing insert from housing using a lever.
4. Inspect and prepare housing, ensuring cleanliness and proper lubrication.
5. Load new insert, ensuring snug fit and alignment.
6. Install lock pin and lubrication fitting.
Lubrication
Sealmaster bearings come pre-lubricated with food-grade grease. Relubrication should use compatible grease, preferably calcium sulfonate thickened grease. Lubricate while rotating if possible, or follow alternate procedure.
Relubrication Recommendations
- Dirty environments: Daily to weekly.
- Clean environments: Frequency varies with temperature and speed.
Maximum Operational Speed
Varies by bore size and duty, with specific RPM limits for standard and medium duty bearings.
