The main windshield is a glass-faced polycarbonate-acrylic laminate, combining the toughness and chemical resistance properties of glass with the weight-saving benefits of plastic. Two polycarbonate main plies provide high impact resistance and have a high strength-to-weight ratio, while a stretched-acrylic inboard ply affords scratch resistance. Replacement cockpit and passenger-cabin windows produced by PPG Aerospace provide operators with proven reliability and cost-effective performance. The transparencies are produced in the same facility that manufactured original-equipment cockpit and passenger-cabin windows for IAI Astra aircraft during the production life of the program. A well-maintained seal protects against moisture ingress, a leading cause of premature service life failure. Seals can be repaired to OEM specification using PPG hump seal repair kits.
