It is designed for retrofit or new build applications where performance, size, weight, reliability and through life cost savings are critical consideration factors. This lightweight, rugged, high specification LED lighting is fully developed and proven in use. FAR compliant, it is qualified to withstand shock, vibration and harsh operating environments. Oxley NVG Friendly TM technology incorporated within this product is visible both with and without night vision goggles and is suitable for both day and night aircraft operations. Additional Infra-red modules can be incorporated into all lights for covert formation flying. All units consist of an electronic circuit with a microcontroller unit providing intelligently controlled operation of the LEDs. This maintains a defined drive current in order to produce specific characteristics, e.g. set intensity, colour, temperature or flash pattern. These characteristics are maintained over a wide range of operating conditions. The hardware and software is designed to work efficiently and to maximise the operational lifetime of the light units, therefore reducing maintenance requirements. The system is designed to accurately monitor key operating parameters, implementing functions for LED junction temperature control; accurate control of LED intensity and colour; accurate thermal control of housing temperature, all of which maximise performance without reducing life.
