MSTAR Series

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides comprehensive specifications and cutting conditions for MSTAR end mills, focusing on various types including taper end mills with long cut lengths and 4 flutes. It details models, dimensions, and recommended usage for different materials.
Specifications:
  • End Mill Types: Includes short, medium, semi-long cut lengths, and those for small automatic lathes, with 2, 3, or 4 flutes. Also covers corner radius and taper end mills.
  • Dimensions: Details diameter, length of cut, overall length, and shank diameter, with specific tolerances for items post-July 2006.
  • Order Numbers: Each type is linked to specific order numbers for identification and ordering.
Cutting Conditions:
  • Materials: Covers carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel, pre-hardened steel, cast iron, stainless steel, hardened steel, titanium, and high nickel alloys.
  • Revolution and Feed Rate: Tables specify recommended RPM and feed rates for different diameters and materials, with adjustments for slotting and drilling.
  • Depth of Cut: Maximum depth of cut guidelines for different diameters and materials, emphasizing adherence for optimal performance.
Recommendations:
  • For high-efficiency, increase surface speeds and feeds by 2-3 times the standard values.
  • Reduce revolution and feed rate for slotting with end mills of diameter 3 or larger.
  • Lower feed rate by 70% for drilling operations.
Procedures and Recommendations:
  • Adjusting Cutting Parameters: Reduce revolution and feed rate if machine rigidity is low or chattering occurs. Lower feed rate for high surface finish quality.
  • Material-Specific Guidelines: Specific cutting conditions for alloy steel, tool steel, and hardened steel.
  • Depth of Cut Considerations: Shallow cuts allow increased revolution and feed rate.
Norms and Standards: Provides standard cutting conditions as a starting point, noting variations based on machine tool condition, overhang, and depth of cut.
Data Tables: Extensive tables list cutting conditions for various end mill models, including revolution, feed rate, and depth of cut for different materials and configurations.
Contact Information: Concludes with contact details for Mitsubishi Materials offices across Europe for support and further information.
