3-inch pressure-sensitive altimeter Description: Pressure – sensitive altimeters (ALT) are for use on aircraft to indicate the altitude above a reference point, generally meaning sea level, assuming standard conditions of temperature and pressure. The altimeters measure the existing barometric pressure. Since atmospheric pressure varies with altitude, this pressure is indicated on the dial in feet of altitude. The altimeters may be manually adjusted to variances in barometric pressure. Temperature is compensated by a bimetallic element. Altimeter is offered to comply with customer’s specifications (see model designation) and is mounted for easy servicing.
