IMS4 RVR

Product catalog summary
Overview
The IMS4 Runway Visual Range (RVR) system is designed for automated assessment and reporting of runway visual range at airports. It operates continuously, 24/7, throughout the year.

Field Sensors
The system includes forward scatter sensors, background luminance sensors, and interfaces with runway lighting systems. It supports various sensor types and communication interfaces, allowing for flexible sensor positioning and data entry. The system provides real-time data processing and remote maintenance capabilities.

System Features
  • ICAO compliant for CAT I - III operations.
  • Real-time data processing with multiple sensor interfaces.
  • Can function as a standalone system or integrate with AWOS/AWDSS.

IMS4 RVR Server
The server, which can be a standard COTS Intel-based server or a dual hot failover cluster, collects data on visibility, background luminance, and runway light intensity. It calculates RVR, distributes data to displays and third-party systems, and provides alerts for significant visibility thresholds. When integrated with AWOS, RVR values are displayed on local and remote screens and included in METAR/SPECI reports.

Controller Displays
Customizable displays provide current values or trends for touchdown, midpoint, and rollout RVR in compliance with ICAO regulations and ATC requirements. A built-in aviation web server offers a web interface for local and remote users.

Integration and Compliance
The IMS4 RVR system is part of the Aviation Weather Decision Support System and complies with several standards, including:
  • CAA Certification
  • ICAO Doc 9328, Annex 3, 10, and 14
  • ICAO Doc 8896 and 9157
  • WMO No 306
  • ISO 9001: 2015

IMS4 RVR-1

IMS4 RVR Runway Visual Range System The IMS4 Runway Visual Range system performs the automated runway visual range assessment and reporting to the airports. Available 24 hours 365 days a year ICAO Forward scatter technology ICAO compliant with CAT I - III AWOS AWDSS Standalone system or integrated within AWOS / AWDSS Multiple sensor interfaces Real time data processing Field sensors The typical set of IMS4 RVR field measurement system consists of forward scatters, background luminance sensors as well as interfaces to runway lights systems. Multiple types of sensors and communication interfaces are supported. The data processing software enables any standard or nonstandard combination of sensor positions along the runways, hot backup of the sensor values and manual data entry. For each sensor type, the evaluation and visualization of the sensor status as well as remote maintenance is provided. 1

MicroSteo IMS4 RVR server Standard COTS Intel based server or a dual hot failover cluster, the IMS4 RVR server collects the visibility, background luminance and runway lights intensity data from the field measurement system, calculates the RVR, distributes the data to displays as well as 3rd party systems; it also provides operators with alerts related to the significant thresholds of the visibility and / or RVR. In case of the integration of the RVR system into AWOS, the RVR values are displayed on the local as well as remote AWOS screens, are imported into METAR / SPECI and local routine or...
