Alloy 10X

Alloy 10X

Product catalog summary
Alloy Overview: Materion's Alloy 10X is a copper-cobalt-beryllium-zirconium alloy designed for enhanced high-temperature strength and ductility. It maintains good strength and ductility up to 800 °F/430 °C, making it ideal for applications requiring high strength above 575 °F/300 °C.
Chemical Composition: The alloy consists of 2.0-2.7% Cobalt, 0.4-0.7% Beryllium, 0.12-0.4% Zirconium, with the balance being Copper.
Physical Properties: Key properties include an elastic modulus of 20,000 ksi (138 GPa), a melting point of ~1850 °F (~1010 °C), electrical conductivity of 45-55% IACS, and a density of 0.319 lb/in³ (8.83 g/cm³).
Mechanical Properties: In TH04 temper, the alloy exhibits a minimum yield strength of 85 ksi (585 MPa) and ultimate strength of 100 ksi (690 MPa) at 20°C, with a typical yield strength of 65 ksi (450 MPa) and ultimate strength of 75 ksi (515 MPa) at 427°C.
Forms Available: Alloy 10X is available in rounds, square, and rectangular bars in TH04 temper, with tube options ranging from 0.375” to 3” in diameter. Thicker sections are available in TF00 temper.
Specifications and Standards: The alloy complies with ASTM B441 (C17500) and RWMA Class 3 standards.
Health & Safety: While handling copper beryllium in solid form poses no special health risks, inhalation of airborne beryllium can cause lung disorders. OSHA has set limits on respiratory exposure, and it is crucial to follow the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines.
Contact Information: For technical support, contact Materion Performance Alloys at 800-375-4205. For sales inquiries, contact the relevant regional office listed in the document.

Alloy 10X-1

DATA SHEE' Alloy 10X - CuCoBeZr Materion's Alloy I0X is a copper-cobalt-beryllium-zirconium alloy developed for improved high temperature strength and ductility. Most high strength copper alloys lose significant strength and ductility at elevated temperature. Alloy 10X retains good strength and ductility at temperatures up to 800 °F/430 °C. With its combination of good elevated temperature strength and conductivity, it has superior resistance to thermal cracking. It is the copper alloy of choice for operation above 575 °F/300 °C where high strength is required. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION (weight percent) PHYSICAL PROPERTIES FORMS AVAILABLE Rounds, square and rectangular bars with < 75mm section thickness available in TH04 temper. Tube in the TH04 temper is available in 0.375” to 3” (9.5 mm to 76 mm) outside diameters. Wall thickness is typically 10 to 20% of the outside diameter, subject to certain maximum and minimum constraints. Thicker sections and larger diameters available in TF00 temper. SPECIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS ASTM B44I (C17500), RWMA Class 3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Additional technical information on Alloy I0X may be obtained by phoning the Customer Technical Service Department at 800-375-4205. For pricing and availability, phone 800-521-8800, or the local sales number listed on the bottom of the next page. HEALTH & SAFETY Handling copper beryllium in solid form poses no special health risk. Like many industrial materials, beryllium-containing materials may pose a health risk if recommended safe handling practices are not followed. Inhalation of airborne beryllium may cause a serious lung disorder in susceptible individuals. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has set mandatory limits on occupational respiratory exposures. Read and follow the guidance in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before working with this material.
