Billy Pugh Rescue Nets provide a safe method for helicopter pick-up and transport of personnel and survivors, suitable for both land and water environments. These nets are designed to stabilize occupants and prevent accidental fallout, with various models offering different configurations in size, flotation, and folding capabilities.
The nets are standard issue for U.S. Navy helicopters and are widely used by police, fire departments, and rescue crews globally. Designed for multiple occupant helicopter rescue, BFN nets are 12 feet high when deployed and collapse to 14 inches for storage. They can attach to cargo hooks or be suspended by a yoke band. Models include:

Billy Pugh nets have been in use since 1957, including the recovery of Apollo astronauts, such as the Apollo 13 crew in 1970.

BILLY PUGH RESCUE NETS Billy Pugh nets offer a safe means of pick-up and transport of personnel and or survivors by helicopter. Designed for use in the harshest of environments, these nets can be used on land or in water. When the net is trailing or in water, its opening is stabilized by the use of a removable sea anchor or drogue. The nets are designed to place the occupant safely to the rear of the net, preventing inadvertent fallout. Various models are available, offering different configurations in sizes, flotation and folding capabilites.
