DASU-1

Data Acquisition and Storage Unit Use of U.S. DoD visual information does not imply or constitute DoD endorsement. The L3 Data Acquisition & Storage Unit (DASU) is a combination of an aircraft data and voice recorder and aircraft data acquisition unit and is tailored to provide aircraft Health & Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) programs. The DASU collects aircraft flight and performance data from multiple digital data bus and analog, discrete and strain gauge inputs. Applying algorithms stored in the DASU working memory, the data from these sources is processed to identify whether aircraft system and sub-system components, including the airframe itself, may require maintenance due to abnormal stress, fatigue and/or failure. The processed data is downloaded to laptop-based line test equipment for analysis by maintenance personnel to determine the needed maintenance action(s). This processed data, and also pilot cockpit voice data, is stored in a Crash-Survivable Memory Unit (CSMU) integrated with the DASU. All flight and voice data is available if and when needed for aircraft incident and accident investigation. FEATURES • 240 MB of crash-protected memory • 1 GB of maintenance memory • 4 audio channels in accordance with ED-112 • 8 ARINC 429 inputs • 12-strain gauge inputs with 4 excitation outputs • 12 analog inputs • Ethernet GSE (Generic Stream Encapsulation) interface
