Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Hostile Fire Locator - Counter Sniper (HFL-CS) is a radar-based solution developed by IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi S.p.A. to detect and locate hostile small arms fire. It is designed to protect soldiers and civil targets from threats such as sniper fire, light weapons, and RPGs.

System Overview
The HFL-CS utilizes X-band radar technology to automatically detect and localize the source of hostile fire. It calculates the projectile's trajectory to determine the shooter's direction and range, and classifies the threat by caliber. Unlike acoustic solutions, it is unaffected by high background noise and can operate in low visibility conditions.

Applications
  • Forward operating bases and airfields
  • Military convoys and motorized patrols
  • Government buildings and embassies
  • Critical infrastructure such as oil, gas, and electricity facilities
  • Public events and gatherings

Features
  • Available as fixed installation or vehicle-mounted
  • Detects both subsonic and supersonic ballistic projectiles
  • Measures radial speed, azimuth, elevation, and range
  • Estimates projectile trajectory and source of fire
  • Classifies threats (e.g., bullet, RPG)
  • Operates in all weather conditions and is immune to silencers
  • Reliable, easy to maintain, transport, and install

Technical Specifications
  • Threat Types: Caliber ≥ 5.56mm

HFL-CS-2

HFL-CS Sniper fire, as well as fire from other light weapons and RPGs, is a constant threat to soldiers in the field, whether they are on patrol, at a forward operating base (FOB) or travelling in a convoy. It is also a potential threat to civil targets such as government buildings, critical infrastructure, VIPs, public events and political rallies. To counter this threat, IDS has developed HFL-CS, a solution based on X-band radar technology to provide automatic detection and localization of the source of hostile small arms fire. The system is able to calculate a projectile’s trajectory and hence...
