Product catalog summary
Overview: The FilterCHECK Model FC400 is an automated, field-deployable system designed for on-site filter debris analysis. It provides rapid and reliable assessment of engine, gearbox, and hydraulic system health by quantifying wear metals and determining debris metallurgy using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) technology.
Key Features:
  • Accommodates various filter configurations and quantifies both ferrous and non-ferrous debris.
  • Rugged design suitable for ship-borne use.
  • On-site verification of chip detector warnings and an alternative to Spectrometric Oil Analysis (SOA).
  • Provides go/no-go decision support to reduce equipment downtime and avoid unnecessary component removals.
Performance Specifications:
  • Metal debris size detection: ≥115 μm for ferrous and ≥400 μm for non-ferrous materials.
  • Wash cycle time is user-configurable, using solvent or machine lubricant with 3-micron filtration.
  • Debris capture uses an 80 μm stainless steel mesh basket and a semi-automatic patch maker.
Filter Compatibility: Compatible with cartridge, disposable, or reusable filters up to 9” (h) x 5” Ø.
Controls and Display: Includes manual and automatic controls for wash and sample cycles, with configurable warning and alarm set points.
EDXRF Analysis: Elemental range from Magnesium to Uranium with 32kV X-Ray excitation.
Environmental and Physical Specifications:
  • Operational temperature range: 50°F to 104°F, recommended for indoor, sheltered environments.
  • Dimensions: 31” (w) x 15.25” (d) x 42” (h), Weight: 220 lbs.
Power and Air Supply Requirements: 110 to 240VAC 50/60 Hz @ 500W, air supply of 3 cfm, 100 psi maximum.
Compliance: Meets various regulatory standards including Canadian Radiation Emitting Devices Act and U.S. FDA Regulations.

AT-LINE FILTER DEBRIS ANALYSIS FC400-1

FC400 Field deployable GO/NO-GO decision support. Quick, reliable and conclusive engine, gearbox, and hydraulic system health information at the flight line. Application FilterCHECK Model FC400 is an automated, field deployable Filter Debris Analysis system that quantifies the amount of wear metal contained in engine, gearbox and hydraulic system filters and determines the metallurgy of the debris using a patented Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) technique. The FC400 provides accurate and timely detection of wear of mechanical components by analyzing the debris contained in a filter. The FilterCHECK is operated on-site by placing a filter in the system "wash chamber". Debris is removed from the filter using a combination of fluid and pressurized air. The wash fluid passes through a MetalSCAN sensor which quantifies the amount of ferrous and non-ferrous material. The fluid then runs through a "filter patch" where a representative sample of the debris is collected for FEATURES Accommodates various filter configurations Quantifies both ferrous and non-ferrous debris material Reliable elemental analysis via EDXRF technology Rugged design - qualified for ship-borne use On-site verification of chip detector warnings On-site alternative to Spectrometric Oil Analysis (SOA) for fine filtered systems BENEFITS Rapid, on-site assessment of equipment condition Early identification of component damage Go/no-go decision support EDXRF analysis. EDXRF testing provides the elemental Reduce equipment downtime composition of the sample, which is in turn correlated to the Avoid unnecessary component removals wear debris of interest, such as constituent elements that are indicative of bearing or gearbox component materials.
