VMAT 1.0 is a real-time airport surface surveillance system designed to track and identify equipped vehicles. It provides precise position, velocity, and time data every second, facilitating positive identification by air traffic and ground control within existing airport infrastructure.
The system seamlessly integrates with ASDE-X and multilateration environments, offering a standards-compliant solution without necessitating major changes to airport surveillance infrastructure.
VMAT 1.0 features an onboard multi-polygon airport map with up to 6,000 points, which automatically manages transmission based on vehicle location. This supports zone compliance and reduces unnecessary signal traffic.
The system is compact and lightweight, allowing for quick installation across ground fleets with minimal disruption. It includes a hard-mounted external antenna and an optional kick plate to mitigate FOD risks associated with temporary mounts. The hot start capability ensures immediate position reporting at power-up.
VMAT 1.0 is operational in over 30 major U.S. airports, supporting more than 2,500 vehicles daily. It is FAA-approved under AC 150/5220-26 and compliant with TSO-C154c, TSO-C145c, DO-160G, and DO-178B Level C standards.
