In Europe, over 50% of aircraft have FLARM, most have Mode-S transponders, but less than 10% have ADS-B Out. In North America, both transponder and ADS-B Out detection is important to maintain safe separation, especially close to busy GA airports. This makes Mode-S reception an essential element of any collision avoidance technology. The PowerFLARM 1090 Receiver Module receives and decodes all 1090 MHz signals. In the case of Mode-S, it derives the proximity of the intruding aircraft from the signal strength. The data is then combined and a comprehensive risk level is calculated. The PowerFLARM 1090 module is the only integrated solution offering this additional safety.
