PowerFLARM 1090 Receiver Module - 1

Jet aircraft frequently operate at local airfields without radar or ATC. While most light aircraft in Europe already have FLARM, jet aircraft rely on TCAS and transponders for collision avoidance. Jets also fly at higher speeds than light aircraft, making early detection and identification necessary. PowerFLARM 1090 Receiver Module Mode-S and ADS-B interoperability for maximum safety Product Highlights     ADS-B, Mode-S, ADS-R and TIS-B receiver at 1090 MHz Native deconflicting for all traffic sources World’s smallest integrated receiver Integrates easily with PowerFLARM OEM Modules Mode-S distance based on signal strength for collision warnings Enables cost effective collision avoidance solutions Most mid-air collisions and airproxes happen between GA aircraft equipped only with a transponder, without FLARM or ADS-B. In Europe, over 50% of aircraft have FLARM, most have Mode-S transponders, but less than 10% have ADS-B Out. In North America, both transponder and ADS-B Out detection is important to maintain safe separation, especially close to busy GA airports. This makes Mode-S reception an essential element of any collision avoidance technology. The PowerFLARM 1090 Receiver Module receives and decodes all 1090 MHz signals. In the case of Mode-S, it derives the proximity of the intruding aircraft from the signal strength. The data is then combined and a comprehensive risk level is calculated. The PowerFLARM 1090 module is the only integrated solution offering this additional safety. It enables OEMs and system integrators to offer one integrated collision avoidance product, keeping installation costs and TCO for the end customer to a minimum. Product Integration Use Cases       The 1090 Module easily integrates with the suite of PowerFLARM OEM modules. All received traffic is automatically combined, deconflicted and integrated into PowerFLARM collision avoidance algorithms. In addition to traffic advisories, the 1090 Module enables flight crews to maintain situation awareness. During approaches, the exact positions of other aircraft help plan an efficient approach by early visual acquisition. This is also helpful during IFR visual approaches, or during IFR/VFR transitions when approaching uncontrolled airfields. By integrating all types of traffic sources, PowerFLARM with the 1090 Module offers full Electronic Conspicuity. Integrates with PowerFLARM Application Module Proximate traffic information for situation awareness No Doughnut effect Receives 1090ES data link Precise 3D collision assessment and warnings Receives Mode-S transponder replies Collision assessment and warnings based on distance from calibrated signal strength and precise altitude difference Forward-fit or retro-fit installation in aircraft TIS-B & ADS-R Portable solutions in airplanes and rotorcraft Receives precise positions of traffic known to ATC, independent of source technology Precise 3D collision assessment and warnings Dedicated and integrated displays (MFD/CDTI) Handheld solutions for air sports Lightweight U
