The pneumatic actuator automatically adjusts the tail position when one engine is off. It features a solenoid-driven shut-off valve that, when powered, connects the extension and retraction chambers, nullifying the actuation output force and allowing free movement of the connected surface. An external electrically powered heater blanket provides anti-freezing capabilities for high-altitude operations.

A solenoid driven Shut-off valve, when powered, connects the extension and retraction chambers of the RBA, zeroing the actuation output force and enabling free movement of the surface connected to the RBA piston rod.
