PORTABLE ROAD SURFACE PROFILER (RSP) MARK IV

PORTABLE ROAD SURFACE PROFILER (RSP) MARK IV

Product catalog summary
Overview
The Dynatest Portable Road Surface Profiler (RSP) Mark IV is an advanced tool designed for high-quality pavement roughness measurements. It is portable and can be easily mounted on most vehicles, providing real-time, continuous measurements at highway speeds.
Measuring Principle
The RSP Mark IV uses the 'South Dakota' method, employing an accelerometer for vertical vehicle body movement and a laser sensor for measuring displacement between the vehicle and pavement. The International Roughness Index (IRI) is calculated following World Bank guidelines.
Compliance with Industry Standards
The device complies with several standards, including AASHTO R 56-14, ASTM E950/E950M-09, and TxDOT Tex-1001-S, ensuring precision and reliability in measurements.
Key Features
  • Accurate and dependable with long-term calibration stability.
  • 'Stop & Go' feature for data collection in various traffic conditions.
  • Adjustable laser sensors for different widths and optional GPS and digital photo logging.
  • Solid construction with corrosion-resistant materials for durability.
Advantages
  • Allows IRI measurements at all traffic speeds, including challenging areas like junctions and roundabouts.
  • In-field vertical alignment for optimal laser mounting.
  • Vehicle-independent system that is easy to mount and remove.
  • High precision with standard 5G accelerometers and built-in analysis software.
Additional Information
The system is powered by a vehicle's standard 12V connection and features Ethernet communication for data transfer. Dynatest provides 24/7 technical support.

■ MEASURING PRINCIPLE The longitudinal profile measurement is based on the “South Dakota” method. An accelerometer is used to obtain vertical vehicle body movement, and a laser sensor is used for measuring the displacement between the vehicle body and the pavement. Road profile measurements are obtained by summing the body movement with the appropriate body-road displacements. IRI is calculated in accordance with Word Bank guidelines for “Conducting and Calibrating Road Roughness Measurements”. ■ COMPLIANCE WITH INDUSTRY STANDARDS AASHTO R 56-14 “Standard Practice for Certification of Inertial...
