YEARS The coach-builder Johann Georg Doll was a hands-on man. In 1878 he opened his workshop “Dollenschmiede” in Oppenau in the Black Forest, thus founding a veritable dynasty of vehicle builders. His son Emil Doll put the small enterprise on track for the future. Under his leadership, the company began building superstructures and trailers for motorized commercial vehicles in the 1920s.
