The ALUSTEP®-FN panels consist of bidirectional glass fiber fabric skins impregnated with phenolic resin, with a thickness ranging from 0.25 to 0.3 mm. The core is made of Nomex® honeycomb with diameters from Ø1/8” to Ø3/16”. Standard panel size is 1250x2500 mm with a thickness tolerance of ±0.4 mm and dimension tolerance of ±30 mm. The glass fiber skin type is satin 8/1 with a weight of 300 gr/m².
The panels have a compressive stabilized strength of 1.6±0.2 MPa and a maximum load capacity ranging from 100±10 N to 760±70 N depending on the panel thickness. The deflection at maximum load varies from 49±5 mm to 7±1 mm. The skins have an elastic modulus of 22,000±1000 MPa. The panels can withstand temperatures from -50°C to +80°C and have a thermal expansion coefficient of 3.5*10^-5 °C^-1.
The Nomex® honeycomb core is available in various densities and cell sizes, with compression strength ranging from 0.52 N/mm² to 13.20 N/mm². The core's shear strength varies based on the cell size and density.
The panels are certified for low flame spread according to IMO MED FTP Code 2010 and are suitable for shipyard applications. They also meet UNI EN 45545-2 standards for railway applications, with classifications for floors (R10) and ceilings/interiors (R1, R2).
