Product Description
BÖHLER N352 is a martensitic chromium steel with nickel addition, designed for the aerospace industry. It is heat treatable and capable of achieving a mirror finish. The steel is resistant to seawater, weak acids, alkaline solutions, and strong oxidizing acids like nitric acid. For optimal corrosion resistance, a fine ground or polished surface finish is recommended.
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition includes Carbon (0.17%), Silicon (0.20%), Manganese (0.40%), Chromium (15.50%), and Nickel (2.20%).
Physical Properties at 20°C / 68°F
  • Thermal Expansions: The thermal expansion values at various temperatures (100°C to 500°C) range from 10 to 11 (10⁻⁶ m/(m.K)).
Material Designation and Standards
The material is designated as 1.4044 SEL, S43100 UNS, Z15Cn17-03 EN, and 431 AISI. It is also known as SUS431 JIS and 431S29 BS under different standards.
