Overview
CompARE is a comprehensive software toolset designed for simulation evaluation, acceptance, and recertification. It is tailored to fit the complex project cycle of validation testing, offering rapid and multi-user test generation through optimized components. The toolset provides a robust environment for scripting, plotting, and reporting.
Specifications
CompARE supports all current generation operating systems, including Windows (from Windows 2000 to 64-bit Windows 7), Mac OS X (10.4 or newer), and Unix (Linux, Solaris 10, AIX 6, and others). It offers a common user interface that maintains cross-compatibility with development projects, test scripts, and results, allowing users to work on their preferred platform.
Modular Design
The software is designed with a modular approach, enabling rapid and efficient test development. It uses an XML format for project storage, facilitating simplified version control and multi-user collaboration. Tests are composed of functions and scripts from a repository, allowing updates to affect all tests using a particular script or function.
Scripting
CompARE utilizes the Lua scripting language, which is significantly faster than Python, Perl, and JavaScript. Lua supports classes and inheritance, providing dynamic and powerful scripting capabilities. The software supports various connection types, including remote (Network, Serial), direct (shared memory), and driven connections, offering maximum flexibility.
Plotting
The plotting engine in CompARE can present large quantities of high-resolution data both onscreen and on paper. It supports up to 18 plots per window and an unlimited number of data series per plot. The software automatically computes tolerance values and displays tolerance bands on plots as needed.
Report Generation
Reports are generated through a LaTeX engine, producing professional PDF documents optimized for size and viewing. Plots are imported as vector graphics, allowing for zooming without pixelation, enabling detailed scrutiny of results.
Applications
CompARE is used for conducting simulation unit testing during development, running FAA/ICAO Automated Qualification Test Guides (QTG), and executing customer-approved Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) on software and hardware.
Compliance
The software is designed to conform with ARINC Report 436, "Guidelines for Electronic Qualification Test Guide."
