Cascade Hangar Doors, Malaysia The Royal Malaysian Air Force purchase of A400M transport aircraft, to supplement their existing C-130 fleet led to the requirement for two new MRO hangars, each 137m wide. These needed new doors of 108m wide by 18m high, opening into a slot between the outer two trusses. Our client needed these doors to open rapidly with the minimum of manpower. Our cascade doors provided the best and most affordable solution and we were able to give the contractor - Landasan - instantaneous and affordable prices and an acceptable delivery period. Our supervisor, along with the contractor on the site, performed excellently in carrying out the erection, rigging and cladding of the doors which can open or close fully in approximately 90 seconds. REIDsteel cascade doors are the perfect answer when all the doors have to move at once towards out-riggers or door housings. Hangar door and door track configuration for this project Each hangar features two sets of bottom rolling cascade doors, and each set contains six door slabs. With a cascade system the doors all move at once, but at different rates. In this hangar the door slab which moves to the middle of the hangar travels 6 times faster - covering 54m than the door slab nearest to the outside of the hangar which only covers 9m in the same time frame.
