NAVCANmet Feature - 1

Advanced meteorological tools for enhanced weather data and reporting. When it comes to maintaining airport efficiency and safety, the availability of reliable weather data is a critical component. The right tools can improve data accuracy and result in better weather reports allowing for improved service delivery. The NAVCANmet suite of meteorological products responds to this challenge with advanced systems for aviation weather observation, recording and reporting. Air navigation service providers and meteorological agencies can depend on NAVCANmet data to monitor and respond to weather conditions with a high degree of confidence. Originally developed for the challenging weather environments of Canada, our systems utilize intelligent technology, combined with real time weather data to improve reporting accuracy. NAVCANmet products will help improve airport capacity and route management, and enhance aircraft safety, in the air and on the ground. Integrated Meteorological Systems NAVCANmet products include meteorological systems used at manned and unmanned airports. The suite consists of four seamlessly integrated products that operate on a common architecture: • Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) • Weather Data Manager • Human Weather Observation System (HWOS) • Enhanced Weather Camera For airports large and small, these products provide real-time meteorological information, aviation routine and special weather reports (METAR and SPECI), and high quality data to improve aviation forecasts. Customized to Your Environment Each of these tools can be purchased and used as a stand-alone product that is scalable, expandable, and fully customizable to work with other third-party systems at any site. Specific systems are web-enabled, with an intuitive and easy-to-use graphic user interface. All NAVCANmet products meet the rigorous requirements of the international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization, World Meteorological Organization, NAV CANADA and Transport Canada.

Automated Weather Observation System Product Benefits The NAVCANmet AWOS offers significant improvements in data quality and data assurance. Using a robust suite of weather sensors and optional weather cameras, this advanced AWOS collects and verifies data which is then automatically formatted into METAR and SPECI weather reports. The system also complies with aviation weather observation and forecasting standards in accordance with the exemption to Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) 804.01(c), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the International Civil Aviation Organization...

HWOSHuman Weather Observation System Product Benefits The NAVCANmet HWOS provides quick, accurate and reliable weather reporting where manned weather observations are an integral part of aviation operations. It is an advanced Linux-based system that allows weather observers to record and report aviation and synoptic weather observations more efficiently. HWOS provides a web browser interface for weather observation entry. It automates the calculation and transcription of sensor data, and eliminates the need for paper recording and reporting. This improves the quality and assurance of data...

Enhanced Weather Camera ► Product Benefits Traditional visibility sensors, including those used on AWOS, can often be obscured by localized phenomena such as smoke, swarms of insects, and drifting dust or snow. Such events often trigger under-reporting of visibility which affects airport approach procedures, and ultimately causes delays. Our Enhanced Weather Camera sees through these kinds of obstructions, giving a more accurate view of prevailing airport conditions. The NAVCANmet Enhanced Weather Camera is a leading-edge weather software tool, utilizing Searidge Technologies’ IntelliDAR™...
