How We Have Grown Carlisle Interconnect Technologies began its operations in Tarrytown, New York in 1940 as Tensolite Company and started of with a reputation for producing the finest miniature insulated wire and cable in the industry. The company’s trademark was coined from the properties built into all Tensolite wire and cable products, which are high tensile strength and compact lightweight performance: Tensile + Lightweight = “Tensolite”. The first insulated wire product produced by the company was used to electrically heat the gloves and flight suits of World War II Air Force pilots....
